Last summer, a creative bride, Carla, asked me if I could create a thank you note for her and her husband to send out to their guests after the wedding. She wanted to spell out "thank you" in letters, illuminated by sparklers.
I took an online real-time course with the very talented Matt Kennedy. He is an excellent teacher, and he taught me some light-writing techniques that I am forever grateful for. For those interested, his course is available for purchase, and I highly recommend it. It can be found here: http://photographers.mattkennedy.ca/index.html#/sparklers/ .
Late on the night of Bill and Carla's wedding, we stepped outside on the grounds for the shot. I'm not going to lie- it took a couple of takes, but the end result was worth it! The photo even got a mention on BuySparklers.com, where I purchased the extra-long sparklers for this very purpose. Their sparklers burned for 1 1/2 minutes each, allowing me plenty of time to achieve the photograph.
